Good morning Druids Junior cricketers, parents and supporters,

The WRJCA have just provided an update on the junior cricket season. This follows the State Government’s announcement last Sunday regarding the roadmap out of current restrictions.

The hope is for first matches to be played on the weekend of Friday 13 and Sat 14 November – for all junior age levels – provided the required threshold is achieved.

The WRJCA is hoping to confirm this plan to all clubs by Friday 23 October. Cricket Victoria is also updating their return to Train and Play guidelines. This will determine when we are allowed to start training.

Please comment below if you’ve not been getting our email updates (or email druidsjuniorcricket@gmail.com to be added to the list). In our email a week or so ago, there were a couple of important things to note, due to Covid-19:

 All junior players will need to provide their own equipment this season. The Druids have quite a lot of kit which has been safely stored since last season. Please let us know if you’d like to hire equipment from us for this season – at a good rate…! (Helmet, pads, gloves, bat).
 For new players aged 7 to 9 years, we will be offering Master Blasters instead of under 11 Cubs this season – as it’s a much more feasible option.
 For juniors who played under 11 Cubs last season, and are not yet ready to play under 11A’s, we will offer under 11 Cubs for you.
 We are hoping to offer all other age groups: u/11 girls, u/11A’s, u/13’s (boys, girls and mixed), u/15’s mixed, u/16 girls, u/17 boys.

Our PlayCricket registration page will go live soon. At this stage we might just ask you to pay the $5 insurance fee so that you are safely registered in MyCricket. The Junior Committee is meeting on Monday night – we will update after that.

The WRJCA would like us to enter the teams we are certain of by the end of this month. We can enter extra teams after that. So, if you haven’t already, a quick email (to druidsjuniorcricket@gmail.com) would help us a lot in our planning:
• name of child/ren,
• likelihood they’ll play this season,
• preferred team/s / days / times,
• friends they’d like to play with
